Presented is a remarkably high-grade example of the important 1980 Topps Baseball issue, the company’s final entry closing a 25-year monopoly in the baseball card arena; two new competitors would emerge in 1981, ushering in the modern era of the card business and the hobby. Despite the passage of four decades, these cards look precisely as they must have when they rolled off the presses, essentially Near-Mint to Mint, with a few below to Near-Mint. The two keys – No. 482 Rickey Henderson and No. 580 Nolan Ryan – have third-party blessing at PSA 8 and PSA 9, respectively, offering a nice glimpse into the broader condition range. The cards are crisp and seemingly uncirculated, with bold, vivid colors and gloss and no discernible difference between the Tier One Hall of Famers and the lowliest of commons.
