Presented is a fascinating lot with a couple of overriding themes: extraordinary condition for the era and an impressive lineup of Hall of Famers, Rookies and stars, which is typically a winning combination with any auction lot. A blazing array of nearly a dozen SGC and PSA graded cards headlines and at the same time offers a nice glimpse into the wider condition range of the raw cards. Both groups are dramatically above the condition range you would typically encounter with these coveted vintage issues, most notably with strong groups from 1952-59 Topps and 1954-55 Bowman, including cards that are generally Ex-Mt to Near-Mint or better, and with the emphasis to the upper end of the range. A 1954 Topps Bill Skowron Rookie in PSA 7 headlines the SGC-slabbed group, along with a 1956 Topps Alston (PSA 8), and a Herb Score Rookie from the same year. Breakdown of slabbed cards (11): 1952 Bowman No. 250 – SGC 84, 1952 Topps No. 197 – SGC 80, 1954 Topps No. 133 – SGC 86, 1954 Topps No. 239 Skowron – PSA 7, 1954 Bowman No. 66 Piersall – PSA 7, 1956 Topps No. 8 Alston – PSA 8, 1956 Topps No, 140 Score Rookie – PSA 7, 1956 Topps No. 216 – PSA 5, 1956 Topps No. 217 – PSA 7, 1955 Bowman No. 276 – SGC 88, and 1955 Bowman No. 290 – SGC 86. Listing of raw cards, broadly Ex-Mt to Near-Mint, with the emphasis to the upper end of the spectrum from 1952 Topps forward: about a dozen cards from 1948-53 Bowman; 1952 Topps (9) – No. 43, 54, 72, 78, 180, 197, 219, 235 and 255; 1953 Topps (18) – No. 30, 32, 44, 60, 94, 135, 139, 149, 169, 170, 181, 184, 185, 186, 189, 193, 196 and 215; 1954 Topps (16) – No. 11, 40, 47, 66, 80, 93, 171, 172, 186, 188, 192, 195, 217, 219, 221 and 227; 1954 Bowman (13) – No. 2, 18, 23, 34, 82, 98, 120, 130, 155, 162, 194, 204 and 210; 1955 Topps (2) – No. 69 and No. 72; 1955 Bowman (20) – No. 15, 16, 47, 48, 68, 126, 147, 150, 177, 178, 192, 204, 221, 222, 256, 264, 302, 318, 319 and 320; 1956 Topps (20) – No. 26, 34, 63, 71, 89, 93, 111, 115, 122, 143, 168, 228, 245, 248, 256, 284, 298, 304, 313 and 315; 1957 Topps (3) – No. 264, 286 Richardson Rookie and 344; 1958 Topps (13) – No. 54, 296, 312 Red Sox, 321 Sluggers Supreme, 343 Cepeda Rookie, 394, 395, 420 Pinson Rookie, 464 Flood Rookie, 465 Musial All-Star, 481 Malzone All-Star, 485 Ted Williams All-Star and 489 Jensen All-Star; 1959 Topps (11) – No. 112, 248 Red Sox, 303, 338, 359, 416, 509 Cash Rookie, 528 Cuellar Rookie, 519 Infield Power, 521, 542 Perry Rookie, and 558 Malzone All-Star; 1959 Fleer Life of Ted Williams (9) – just a whisper lower condition, with four or so Ex to Ex-Mt and four Good to Very Good – No. 1 (2), 3, 4, 9, 12, 13, 25 and 60.
