November 19, 2020: Fall Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/19/2020
This is an extraordinary auction lot of remarkably pristine vintage Topps baseball cards primarily from the 1960s, headlined by some of the most coveted cards of the era in blazing Near-Mint or better condition. That description applies to classics like 1965 Topps cards of Mays and Clemente, the 1965 Topps Mantle World Series Home Run card and a boatload of others, most notably an impressive array of regular-issue Yastrzemski cards in the same standout condition. Broadly speaking, the array is mostly Near-Mint to Near-Mint to Mint, with perhaps ¾ of the group reaching the upper end of the spectrum and almost no duplication. The cards boast wonderful color and gloss, remarkably pristine and exceptionally clean backs, seemingly uncirculated cards that could likely upgrade almost any set. Here’s the breakdown: 1960 Topps (52), from all series and including 11 High Numbers, five Teams, Malzone and Pierce All-Stars, Dropo, Gordon, Jurges, Tanner, Dodgers Backstops, Green, Gentile, and Red Sox and Dodgers Coaches; 1961-63 Topps (12); 1964 Topps (51), with No. 5 League Leader (Koufax) – Nr-Mt, White, Friend, Wynn, Felipe and Matty Alou, Murtaugh, Law, Power, Roseboro, Triandos, Perry, Ward, two Teams, two Combination cards and the First Series Checklist; 1965 Topps (5) – No. 134 World Series Mantle HR – Ex-Mt, 160 Clemente – Nr-Mt, 250 Mays – Nr-Mt, 330 Ford – Nr-Mt and 470 Berra – Nr-Mt; 1966 Topps – Red Sox Team – Ex-Mt-Plus; 1968-72 Topps (37) – including 1968 Howard and three 1968 World Series subset cards, and 1970 Frank Robinson No. 700 – Nr-Mt; 1973 Topps (25) – No. 174 Gossage – Ex-Mt, plus a League Leader, Garvey and Osteen; 1974 Topps (85) – Gaylord Perry, Sutton and two Checklists; 1974 Traded -(44); 1975 (50); and 1976 Topps Traded (44). The Carl Yastrzemski Group (15) includes (all regular-issue cards unless noted) – 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1968 All-Star, 1969 All-Star, 1970 (2, one is VG) and 1971.
