This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/19/2020
Offered is an intriguing group of early Bowman and Topps football cards with more than a dozen Hall of Famers included in the mix along with several important Rookie cards, with most of the cards in the kind of well-worn condition typically found in older collections. It’s an array that touches on many of the biggest pioneering figures in early NFL history, cards seemingly from a childhood collection that reveal the kind of energetic handling that you might expect. There is minimal duplication and an imposing roster of important Rookies. The 1948-52 Bowman array is mostly in Fair condition, with a few Good and some Poor, headlined by 1948 Bowman (25) Rookie cards of Baugh, Van Buren, Trippi, Christman and Horvath (Poor) and 1950 Bowman (29) Rookies of Glenn Davis (Good) and Tom Fears (Poor). Tom Landry (Poor), Lou Creekmur and Emlen Tunnell Rookie cards are highlights from the one dozen (12) 1951 Bowmans, while Rookies of Jim Lansford and Yale Lary (Poor) headline the 1952 Bowman group (11). The 1958-65 Topps and Philadelphia Gum array is in a bit better condition, even in the earlier years (several Fair and Good), and in roughly Excellent condition in the later years. The roster includes a 1963 Topps Jim Brown (Very Good), a 1964 Topps Lance Alworth (VG-Ex) and a 1965 Philadelphia Gum Paul Warfield Rookie (Poor).
