Offered is an example from the legendary 1888 Allen & Ginter World Champions Series, the classic 19th century issue that includes 10 baseball players in a set that features 40 other cards picturing star athletes from a host of other sports, amateur and professional. The presented card is Joseph Mulvey, one of the 10 baseball players in the issue, found here in a PSA Authentic (Altered) holder. The approximately 1 ½-by-2 ¾-inch cards were inserted in boxes of Allen & Ginter cigarettes and are widely regarded among the most attractive and important cards ever produced.
