This is a handsome example of a highly coveted late 1970s Expos jersey, a striking light-blue knit jersey with button-down front (seven buttons) and satin inner collar and button path lining. Shirt is attributed to Dan Schatzeder, a veteran of 15 major-league seasons, including one of his best that season with the Expos. All identifiers are original and intact, with red, white and blue tackle twill for the iconic “M” on the front, blue tackle twill for “expos” below and red tackle twill for his No. 36 front and back. “Schatzeder” NOB in blue and white tackle twill across the shoulders on back. The appropriate Wilson Size 44 labeling is at the collar and “78 – 1” in chain-link stitching on swatch tagging on the front tail. Shirt shows solid and consistent wear on a difficult knit to find all intact and in good condition. As noted, 1978 was one of Schatzeder’s better campaigns, a 7-7 log with a 3.04 ERA in the starting rotation for Montreal; in 15 seasons with eight different clubs and two tenures in Montreal, he compiled a 67-68 log, with a 3.74 ERA in 1,317 innings.
