He who needs no introduction produced this memorabilia masterpiece all of six decades ago, wielding his legendary green pen to spectacular effect with a stunning personal letter on Ty Cobb letterhead and some amazing content relating to signing autographs. The 7 ¼-by-10 ½-inch document is in superb condition, seemingly Near-Mint, with his iconic green ink producing a masterpiece beneath his Menlo Park, Calif. address. In the letter to a fan, Cobb explains that the autograph request seemingly arrived without a photograph for Cobb’s famed signature. The Hall of Famer politely explained that the volume of mail he routinely received might explain the missing photo, but he urged the fan to write him with some description of the piece. He even pointed out that he (Cobb) was headed to Lake Tahoe for the next couple of weeks, adding in a P.S. at the bottom that he would be very pleased to supply the autograph if he had the photo.
