Offered here is a striking pair of complete sets from the 1978 Topps Basketball issue, sets that are virtually unimprovable in sparkling Near-Mint to Near-Mint to Mint condition, with the emphasis clearly to the upper end of the spectrum. The cards routinely boast of vivid color and excellent gloss, making a uniform presentation that is jostled only slightly by a barely perceptible depression across the center of a handful of cards that can be viewed only with some diligence. That mild disclaimer applies to the first couple of cards at the beginning and a similar number at the end, a grouping that obviously includes the No. 1 card of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Here’s the breakdown: No. 1 Abdul-Jabbar (2) – Ex-Mt and Excellent, with the disclaimer noted above, No. 20 Maravich (2) – Near-Mint, No. 40 Hayes (2) – Nr-Mt and Ex-Mt, 56 Dantley Rookie (2) – Nr-Mt, 60 Thompson (2) – Nr-Mt to Mt, 100 Erving (2) – Nr-Mt, 111 Parish Rookie (2) – Nr-Mt to Mt and 132 Dawkins (2) – Nr-Mt, with same qualifier noted above.
