March 25, 2021: Spring Auction

Here are three of the key Topps baseball issues in the closing years of the company’s 25-year monopoly in the business, with two high-grade complete sets (1976 and 1980) and a similarly pristine partial set from 1974. With cards that are basically Near-Mint to Near-Mint to Mint or better, the lot is a compelling addition to any collection, with superb color and gloss and remarkably consistent presentations. The 1974 Topps partial set features cards No. 1-516 (missing only No. 227), and then a mere 25 cards present from the final stretch of 144. From 1974, there is also a grouping of 29 cards from the Traded subset with some light duplication, along with another 86 other duplicates, including a Ex-Mt-Plus example of Mike Schmidt’s No. 283 second-year card. The 1976 Topps set is complete (660), and includes the 44-card Traded set; the 1980 set is complete at 726 cards.
