This is an intriguing piece from an important figure whose resume included a brief playing career, coaching for the New York Giants, scouting for four different major league clubs and even a stretch as manager in the legendary All-American Girls Professional Baseball League immortalized in the hit film “A League of Their Own.” Bubber Jonnard, a lifetime .230 hitter as a catcher with no home runs and 20 RBI, signed this standard National League Player’s Contract in two places: on the tri-fold cover section, along with Heydler and stamped dating to April 17, 1929 and on page two directly below Rickey’s signature. The four-page 8 ½-by-11-inch contract presents in Excellent condition, with only the most barely visible cracking at a couple of folds. Jonnard would manage the Minneapolis Millerettes in 1944 and later sign the likes of Ed Kranepool, Nino Espinosa, Ken Singleton and Mike Jorgenson, among others, as a scout for the Mets.
