Like an adjacent lot with a 1973 Topps Cello with Roberto Clemente showing, this amazing artifact lays special claim to baseball historical bona fides: a 1970 Topps Series Two Cello pack that hosts a No. 189 Thurman Munson Rookie showing on the back. The PSA 9 Mint blazer also boasts a pristine Al Oliver card on the front, but it’s the seven-time All-Star, 1970 Rookie of the Year and 1976 MVP Munson who is the straw that stirs this particular drink. The Yankee great died tragically in a private-plane crash in 1979; the Captain’s No. 15 was retired by the Yankees, joining the ranks of arguably the most-famous names linked to that specific honor in all of baseball history. Now that’s a resume with some historical oomph.
