The quirky 1948 Swell Gum Sport Thrills set is presented here in a condition fairly consistent with how these cards are found in mature collection, broadly Very Good to VG-Ex, and missing the key card, No. 3 Jackie Robinson, which is being offered in this same auction as an individual lot. The 2 ½-by-3-inch black-and-white cards commemorate many of the greatest moments in baseball history, naturally touching on many of the greatest Hall of Famers of the first half-century of MLB play. The breakdown: No. 1 – Good, No. 2 – Very Good, No. 4 – VG, No. 5 – Good, No. 6 – VG-Ex, No. 7 – VG-Ex, No. 8 – VG, No. 9 – Excellent, No. 10 – VG-Ex, No. 11 – Ex o/c, No. 12 Babe Ruth – VG-Ex, No. 13 – Ex, No. 14 Gehrig – VG-Ex, No. 15 VG, No. 16 DiMaggio/Williams – VG, No. 17 – VG, No. 18 – VG, No. 19 – VG-Ex and No. 20 – Good.
