The coveted 1955 Topps Baseball issue is represented here by a massive grouping of low numbers, found here in a condition fairly typical for the issue, roughly Very Good to VG-Ex, with some above to Excellent and perhaps three dozen or so falling below to mostly Good, and the emphasis probably to Very Good. Hall of Famers Warren Spahn, Monte Irvin, Billy Herman and Hal Newhouser headline, along with a vast grouping of important stars of the period like Dick Groat, Jim Gilliam, Johnny Podres and a couple of dozen more. Even with collector-grade credentials, the array boasts wonderful gloss and vivid colors and often significant duplication, even in the instances of some Hall of Famers and stars. About five dozen or so cards have the kind of centering that might typically prompt thoughts of upgrading, though not all of those would be severe enough to dictate a formal off-center designation; in addition, there are three dozen miscuts and a couple of dozen cards with scribbling on the back. As noted, the duplication is significant, detailed as follows for keys and larger quantities: No. 3 (4), 7 (8), 8 (3), 10 (3), 11 (3), 14 (5), 19 Herman (6, one is mk), 23 (6), 24 Newhouser – Good, 25 Podres (4), 29 (3), 30 Power (7), 31 Spahn (2, VG-Ex and Fair), 32 (3), 33 (4), 34 (3), 39 (3), 49 (6), 55 (4), 57 (3), 59 (3), 61 (4), 62 (7), 64 Triandos (4), 66 (5), 70 Rosen (6, one is m/k), 77 (6), 78 (8), 81 Conley (4), 84 Pascual (3), 89 (4), 93 (3), 100 Irvin (7, six are mk), 101 (4) and 120 Kluszewski – VG. Some of the other stars include: Gilliam (2), Rhodes, Hegan, Fain (3), Sievers (4), Groat (2), Hoak (2), O’Dell (2), Gomez, Mossi, Skinner, Zernial (2), Mayo Smith, Jay, Valo (2), Narleski and Lynch (3).
