Here’s a collection that will be recognized by countless hobbyists: aging binders filled with often lower-grade Hall of Famers and stars, typically without much method to the madness but still an enormous opportunity for bidders to find countless key cards and Rookies from many of the greatest stars of the era. It’s the kind of lot that argues for a good deal of close examination, but a bit of diligence can pay dividends for the winning bidder. Given that disclaimer, here’s a broad breakdown (Topps unless otherwise indicated), with card counts approximations: Some of the keys – 1956 Fox – VG-Ex, 1966 Morgan – VG-Ex, 1968 Rose – Ex-Mt, 1968 Banks – VG-Ex, 1968 Seaver – Near-Mint, 1969 Deckle Edge Clemente – Ex-Mt, 1975 Brett Rookie – Excellent, 1975 Yount Rookie – VG-Ex, 1975 Jackson 0 Ex, 1975 Schmidt – Ex, 1976 Aaron – VG-Ex and 1976 Brett – Ex-Mt-Plus; 1) Binder No. 1 (50) – Key Hall of Famers and Rookies, mostly Good to Very Good, with some below, including Aaron (4), Banks, Bench, Carew, Carlton, Carter Rookie, Fisk Rookie, Jackson, Maris, Mays (2), Munson, Rice Rookie, Frank Robinson, Ryan (3), Santo Rookie, Schmidt (2), Seaver, Winfield and Yastrzemski (2): 2) Binder No. 2 (650) – Mostly 1966 Topps and forward, plus some 1968 Topps Game and Deckle Edge, broadly Good to Excellent, with some Fair and the emphasis probably to Very Good, with estimate of 150 Hall of Famers, plus All-Star cards and Specials, including Banks, Bench, Brock, Carew, Carter, Killebrew, Jackson, Kaline, McCovey, Brooks Robinson, Frank Robinson, Rose and Seaver; a final group of more than a dozen mostly 1962 Post Cereal (couple of 1961), mostly Fair to Good, including Aaron, Koufax, Killebrew, Berra, and Yastrzemski (2).
