This is an enormous grouping of vintage Topps baseball cards, largely in simply spectacular condition for the 1970s and beyond and boasting an imposing lineup of Hall of Famers and Specials, including many of the legendary figures from almost a quarter-century of Major League Baseball. Some of the earliest groupings, largely 1964-66, are broadly Good to Very Good or Excellent, but by 1968 and beyond the pedigree jumps dramatically, and by 1971 and beyond the description is basically Near-Mint or better, with significant runs of Near-Mint to Mint cards clearly from vending. It is a lot that begs for a good deal of close examination, with substantial value awaiting the lucky and diligent winning bidder. Given the size and diversity of the array the numbers listed are approximations. Here’s the breakdown: 1964 and 1966 Topps (58), mostly Good to Very Good, with nine (9) Hall of Famers (1966), including Mathews, Schoendienst, Mazeroski, Torre (6) and Dick Allen (6); 1965 Topps (70), Good to Excellent, a few Ex-Mt and even Near-Mint, with the emphasis to Very Good – 14 Hall of Famers, including Morgan Rookie, Drysdale, Marichal, Spahn, Mathews, Killebrew (2), Hodges, Roberts, Stengel, Alston and Mazeroski (4), plus five (5) Teams, 14 League Leaders and 10 World Series cards; 1968 Topps (11), Ex-Mt to Near-Mint, some below, with two All-Stars and six (6) Teams; 1969 Topps (200), Ex-Mt to Near-Mint, with some below and HOFers (10) mostly Nr-Mt, including Marichal (3), Fregosi (3), Sutton, Alston (2) and Morgan, plus 38 League Leaders, five (5) Checklists and four (4) World Series cards; 1970 Topps (250), Ex-Mt to Near-Mint, with 25 Hall of Famers, including Anderson, Bunning (2), Fingers (2), Gibson (3), Hunter, Palmer (2), Perez (3), Perry, Sutton (5), Weaver, Wilhelm (4), plus 36 All-Stars. Including Aaron (4), Rose (4), Jackson, Frank Robinson and McCovey (2), plus 50 Teams, 22 League Leaders, seven (7) World Series and 19 Checklists; 1971 Topps (520), exceptional group primarily Near-Mint to Near-Mint to Mint, with perhaps 75 cards or so below, mostly to Ex-Mt, and including 44 Hall of Famers – Aaron, Anderson, Aparicio, Bench, Bunning, Carew, Carlton, Gibson, Hodges, Hunter, Jackson, Kaline, Martin, Munson, Niekro, Perry, Piniella, Frank Robinson, Rose, Schoendienst, Seaver, Stargell, Weaver (2), Dick Williams and Wilhelm, plus four Teams (Mets), 24 League Leaders, 10 World Series and Playoffs and eight (8) Checklists; 1972 Topps (340), Near-Mint to Near-Mint to Mint blazers, with amazing color and gloss, many clearly from vending, including Cepeda, Fregosi, Fingers, Killebrew in Action (2), Morgan, Perez, Schoendienst, Simmons (2), with eight (8) Teams (including two Pirates), 22 League Leaders, eight (8) World Series and four (4) Checklists; 1981 Topps (1,000) – as-issued, Near-Mint to Near-Mint to Mint or better cards from searched vending boxes, with 31 Hall of Famers, including Raines and Valenzuela Rookies (2), 31 Team cards, 29 Specials and eight (8) Checklists; and Miscellaneous (225), from various sets and years, including two dozen Kellogg’s and pair of 1962 Post Cereal – Mays and Mathews – both Fair.
