This is a simply amazing lot, one of the biggest we've ever offered, of mostly complete sets from the 1970s and 1980s Topps Baseball, plus similarly pristine near sets and massive groups from 1976-80 Topps totaling more than 4,200 cards in addition to 10,000 or so cards in the complete sets, often with enormous duplication of Hall of Famers and many of the greatest stars of the era. For the 13 sets, the condition is essentially as-issued, Near-Mint or better blazers; the 3,750 extras are barely a whisper below that, typically Ex-Mt to Near-Mint, with condition descriptions included for the individual years in the listing below. It is quite literally a lot that begs for a good deal of close examination, with substantial value awaiting the lucky and diligent winning bidder. As you might expect from a lot this size, the postage and handling charges will be significant. We'll lead off with what is arguably the nicest array of 1975 Topps Baseball (648/660) that we've handled, a blazing Near-Mint to Mint or better near set, jostled only by the absence of a dozen cards, albeit all of them the keys from the coveted, colorful issue. The missing numbers: No. 1, 5, 30, 61, 70, 194, 195, 200, 223, 228 and 300; 1976 Topps Baseball (1,100) is mostly Ex-Mt to Near-Mint or better, with some below, and 31 HOFers included – Eckersley Rookies (3), Aaron, Munson (3), McCovey (2), Seaver, Carlton, Brooks Robinson (2), Winfield (2), Brock (3), Hunter, Perez, Sutton, Williams and Jenkins, plus 11 All-Time Stars, 10 Teams, two (2) Checklists and 75 Traded; 1977 Topps (700) is mostly Ex-Mt to Near-Mint or better, with some below, and 30 HOFers included – Dawson Rookie (2), Munson (2), Ryan (2), Brett, Rose, Jackson, Yount and Brock, plus 40 Specials; 1978 Topps (1,100) is largely Ex-Mt to Near-Mint or better, with some below, and 85 Hall of Famers – including Ryan (5), Schmidt (4), Jackson (2), Rose (2), Yount, Brett, Bench (3), Carew, Munson (2), Seaver (3), Molitor Rookie (4), Morris Rookie (2) and 10 other Rookies, plus 78 Specials, which includes 34 Team cards, 11 Checklists, and four (4) 1978 O-Pee-Chee cards of Seaver, Rice, Hunter and Jackson; 1979 Topps (700), broadly Excellent to Near-Mint, with some below, including three dozen Hall of Famers – Ozzie Smith Rookie (2), Ryan (2), Brett (2), Rose, Jackson, Murray (2), Dawson (3), Schmidt, Yastrzemski, Morgan (7), McCovey (3), plus 27 Prospects and 31 Specials, plus (2) O-Pee-Chee cards of Rice and Carter; 1980 Topps (500), Excellent to Near-Mint, with some below, including three dozen Hall of Famers, including Henderson Rookie, Ryan (2), Rose (2), Brett (2), Trammell (6), Jackson (2), Schmidt, Dawson, Yount (2), and Bench (2), plus 50 Specials. The complete-set roster (13) runs from 1979 to 1986 Topps, with five sets in binders and attractive slip case and the balance in 800-count boxes; there are multiple sets for a few years (noted). As noted above, cards are essentially as-issued, Near-Mint or better. The breakdown: 1978 (726), 1979 (2 sets, one in binder), 1980 (2 sets, one in binder), 1981 (726), 1982 (2 sets, one in binder), 1983 (792, in binder), 1984 (792), 1985 (2 sets, one in binder), and 1986 (792).
