Here's the baseball that was used for Al Kaline's 2,980th career hit. It's an OAL MacPhail ball with "Hit No. 2,980" on the North panel, "2 base Hit" on the South panel, "4th Inning, 2nd Game Dick Bosman" on the East panel and "Detroit vs. Cleveland 9-3-74" on the West panel, all written in the same black marker. This ball comes from a longtime usher at Tiger Stadium, who's collection was recently sold by another major auction house. The five game-used balls in this auction - four Al Kaline Hit balls and one Hank Aaron Hit ball - come from the same family.
