Presented is one of the important turn-of-the-century Detroit Tigers artifacts, the coveted 1907 H.M. Taylor Postcard that pictures the legendary club in a spectacular 3 1/2-by-5 ½-inch postcard that is in a highly presentable Good condition, with three corners that present closer to Very Good, and very light dirt and staining. The black-and-white team photograph on the front includes 17 members of the pennant-winning club and manager Hughie Jennings, with the team’s third-year prodigy Ty Cobb situated smack dab in the middle; behind him in the back row above his right shoulder is fellow Hall of Famer Sam Crawford. The back of the card is blank and unmolested and reveals only the barest hint of any dirt or staining; the 1-Cent Stamp box is in the upper-right corner, sans stamp. The card holds a special significance for collectors because of its inclusion of Cobb in the year that launched a nine-year stretch of American League batting titles and the club’s first of three consecutive AL pennants, marking the team as perhaps the greatest dynasty in Detroit history.
