This is a neat letter from the President of the Tulsa ball club in the Texas League writing about player acquisition and the payment of roughly ½ of the draft price for the unnamed ballplayer. In short, choppy sentences, Griggs notes that a check for $2,327.80 is enclosed with the letter and makes other comments about player personnel using only first names and little other information that might be used for identification and explanation. He closes with a strong fountain pen signature. Griggs played five years in the majors with St. Louis (Browns), Cleveland and Detroit, finishing with a .275 lifetime average. He died within weeks of the October 31, 1938-dated letter. Basic COA from BAS.
