This is an outstanding Uniform Player’s Contract from standout 1960s major league reliever Phil Regan, a virtually Near-Mint example of the four-page document, featuring crisp ballpoint signatures of Regan and club vice president Rick Ferrell on page three. For the princely sum of $11,000, Regan worked his magic as a starter that season, though his real fame would come a few years later as a reliever, most notably on behalf of the acclaimed Dodgers’ club in 1966. Regan, with a career 96-81 lifetime mark and 3.84 ERA, plus 92 Saves, earned 21 of those Saves in the Dodgers’ NL pennant-winning season of 1966, ending up with a 14-1 record that prompted none other than Sandy Koufax to come up with the nickname “Vulture.” That was a reference to Regan’s tendency that season to wind up with a Win after the legendary labors of that vaunted starting pitching staff. Basic COA from BAS.
