Presented is a highly attractive example of the 1961 Fleer Football issue, the company’s first effort to include players from the veteran National Football League after producing an American Football League set the previous year, its first printing mainstream cards of professional football. The offered set is remarkably sharp for a 60-year-old issue, largely Ex-Mt to Near-Mint cards, with some below, mostly to Excellent, and with significant sections displaying the coveted “vending bend” that bespeaks of uncirculated cardboard. With that vending pedigree often comes the centering vagaries that are not uncommon with that genre, with perhaps 100 or so cards having the kind of centering that might typically prompt thoughts of upgrading, though not all of those would be severe enough to dictate a formal off-center designation.
