Here’s a fascinating piece attributed to legendary Cards wide receiver Roy Green, a game-worn helmet from the earliest years of his distinguished career between 1979 and 1981. The Size 7 ¼ Riddell white-impregnated shell has the PAC 3 interior padding system, Riddell front bumper and crown stamping of 01/78. The interior sticker has the Size 7 ¼, along with PAC 3 and 3A9 (1979). There are markings of “R. Green” and “NOPO” facemask style on athletic tape and separate notations of size 7 ¼ and No. 25. The outer shell has the Cardinals logos, 25 on the lower back and the double low-hookup snaps. The jaw pads, chinstrap and facemask are missing. Helmet show solid wear; Green wore No. 25 in the first few years of his career, switching to his more well-known No. 81 after 1981. He was one of the premier wide receivers in team history, finishing his career after a brief stop in Philadelphia with 559 receptions and 66 touchdowns.
