Presented is a simply spectacular array of the iconic 1970 Topps Basketball issue, the company’s second “Tall Boys” effort in as many years that yielded perhaps the most ostentatiously colorful set in Topps’ fabled history, a nuance heightened by the oversized 2 ½-by-4 11/16-inch cards. This staggering accumulation of 500 cards features an incredible Hall of Fame lineup (69), often with significant duplication of many of the top stars of the era. A pair of important keys have been third-party graded and slabbed – No. 7 Bradley – PSA 8 o/c and No. 50 Chamberlain – PSA 7 (st), providing a nice glimpse into the wider condition range. The raw group is in essentially Near-Mint to Near-Mint to Mint condition, with a few below and with simply stunning color and gloss; card backs are similarly notable, with remarkably crisp orange spot-color panels contrasting with snow-white backgrounds. There is no discernible difference in condition between the top Hall of Famers and stars to the lowliest of commons. Breakdown of keys: Baylor (2), Bellamy (3), Bradley (7), Havlicek (3), Chamberlain (2), Hayes (4), Hudson (5), Gus Johnson (13), Lucas (3), Monroe (4), Riley (3), Robertson (4), Thurmond (6), Unseld (3), Walker (5), West All-Star (2), Checklist First Series (5) and Checklist Series Two (7), plus 12 All-Stars and 26 Leaders.
