Here is an intriguing lot from Topps’ two initial “Tall Boys” issues from 1969 and 1970, with about three dozen mostly different cards from 1969 and almost 400 from the latter year, which is also much sharper condition at mostly Near-Mint or better, with some below. The 1969 array is generally Excellent to Ex-Mt, with Hall of Famers Don Nelson and Satch Sanders included in the mix. The 5 ¼-by-3 1/8-inch treasures from 1970 are essentially Near-Mint or better, with some below, and with all boasting vivid colors and gloss and exceptionally clean and crisp card backs, all with a lineup that includes almost four dozen Hall of Famers, 16 All-Stars, a dozen NBA Playoffs Specials and a half dozen League Leaders. At almost 400 cards, there’s obviously a good deal of duplication, often involving many of the legendary figures of the era. A breakdown: Bellamy (2), Bing (2), Cunningham (3), DeBusschere (2), Frazier, Goodrich (5), Greer, Hawkins (3), Hazzard (3), Hudson, Johnson (3), Lucas (2), Monroe (3), Nelson, Sanders (2), Silas (3), Thurmond (2), Unseld, Walker (3), White (3) and Wilkens.
