For Windy City fans here are three 1980s jerseys with Cubbie linkage, including a game-worn 1982 shirt attributed to Junior Kennedy and a 1981 shirt linked to Scott Thompson. The third shirt is likely a spring training version from the late 1980s. Here’s your lineup: 1) Junior Kennedy home pinstripe double-knit pullover with V-neck with 1-inch blue collar and 1 3/8-inch sleeve accents trim. The front crest has been removed and the outline remnants are faintly visible. Wilson collar label of Size 42 and collar swatch with “15 82 Set 2 42,” with year swatch label in chain link “82” on tail. The sleeve patch is zig-zag stitched to left sleeve; there is some fraying of the back numeral stitching that is inconsistent with the shirt wear, probably because of the numeral change to “36” in less-professional fashion. Kennedy wore No. 15 in 1982 and 1983; shirt may have been used as a backup by Mike Proly in late 1983 or spring training 1984; 2) Scott Thompson home pinstripe double-knit with V-neck with 1-inch blue collar and 1 3/8-inch sleeve accents trim. The front crest has been removed and the outline remnants are faintly visible. Wilson collar label of Size 42 and collar swatch with “29 81 Set 2 42,” with year swatch label in chain link “81” on tail. The sleeve patch is zig-zag stitched to left sleeve. The shirt shows light/medium consistent wear and very light fraying of the blue stitching front and back; 3) Final shirt is Cubs pinstripe late 1980s style, with V-neck and correct sleeve accents. It has Wilson Prestige label with “42” flap tag in the tail; shirt never had strip tag in the collar. Possibilities include spring training extra jersey, MLB level extra jersey or instructional league jersey.
