Offered is striking complete set of cards from the 1953 Johnston Cookies Milwaukee Braves issue, the important inaugural set that launched a three-year run of the quirky food issue that celebrated the city’s infatuation with its newly installed major-league franchise. The 2 9/16-by-3 5/8-inch cards found here in a condition range markedly better than the famous food issue is typically encountered in mature collections, essentially Near-Mint or better, with a handful falling below and listed here. The breakdown of condition anomalies: No. 1 Grimm – Excellent, No. 3 – Ex-Mt-Plus, No. 17 Adcock – Excellent-Plus, No. 21 Mathews – Ex-Mt-Plus and No. 25 – VG.
