Presented is an attractive example of the classic 1955 Bowman Baseball issue, the company’s final entry in the baseball card arena before being swallowed up by archrival Topps at the end of the year. The offered set is in a nice, collectible overall condition, basically from Good to Ex-Mt, an array that is a bit wider in range than might typically be encountered. It comes out to four roughly equal components: 23 percent Excellent to Ex-Mt, 21 percent VG-Ex, 23 percent Very Good and 28 percent Good, with barely more than a dozen cards below, almost all to Fair. The key singles are graded by PSA - No. 179 Aaron PSA 2, No. 184 Mays PSA 2.5, No. 202 Mantle PSA 2 and No. 242 Banks PSA 3. Four cards – Nos. 2, 110, 139 and 172 – measure about 1/8th of an inch short horizontally. Both versions of card No. 157 Ernie Johnson are included, bringing the set total to 321.
