Presented is a fascinating near set of the iconic 1955 Topps Baseball issue, found here in a overall condition a bit better than this important set is typically encountered in mature collections, largely Very Good to Ex-Mt, with some above and below and some minimal duplication. A total of 40 cards are slabbed, including Hall of Famers Al Kaline, Yogi Berra, Phil Rizzuto, Monte Irvin, Hal Newhouser and Billy Herman; the raw-card section includes eight more HOFers, including duplicates of Kaline, Irvin, Newhouser and Herman. Eight cards are missing from this near set, albeit important keys from the three Rookies – Koufax, Clemente and Killebrew – and Mays, Ted Williams, Jackie Robinson, Kluszewski and Boone. Overall, the issue comes out to roughly 4 percent Near-Mint, 17 percent Ex-Mt, 37 percent Excellent and 42 percent Very Good.
