Here’s the test issue that helped propel the hobby to new heights in the mid-1970s, the downsized Topps Baseball Minis that had limited national distribution primarily in Michigan and the West Coast, save for the fledgling card dealers, serious collectors and speculators who scooped up much of the inventory to good effect. The 2 ¼-by-3 1/8-inch cards boast exceptional colors and gloss and are largely Near-Mint to Near-Mint to Mint, with the emphasis to the upper end of the spectrum. What nominal wear there is seemingly comes from what is obviously the barest light touch on a corner from being in set boxes. The breakdown of keys: No. 1 Aaron Highlight – Ex-Mt-Plus, 20 Munson – Near-Mint, 50 Brooks Robinson – Ex-Mt-Plus, 70 Schmidt – Nr-Mt, 150 Gibson – Nr-Mt, 195 Mantle/Aaron 1957 MVP – Nr-Mt, 223 Yount Rookie – Ex-Mt-Plus, 229 Brett Rookie – Very Good, 260 Bench – Nr-Mt, 300 Jackson – Nr-Mt, 320 Rose – VG-Ex, 500 Ryan – Ex-Mt, 616 Rice Rookie – Nr-Mt, 620 Carter Rookie – Ex-Plus, 640 Killebrew – Nr-Mt to Mt and 660 Aaron – VG-Ex.
