November 18, 2021: Fall Auction

Presented is a spectacular example from the rarest of the D290-1 Bread Label issues from the early 1950s, a genre known for its one-two punch of genuine rarity and condition sensitivity, an obvious nuance in collecting end labels from bread products issued barely past the end of World War II. As noted, the National Tea Series is the toughest of the bread label issues, thought to be complete at 44 but allowing for the possibility that the checklist is not yet complete. The offered 2 ¾-inch square Judson label presents in Near-Mint fashion but has some unobtrusive paper residue on the back.
