Here’s the inaugural 1975 Hostess Baseball issue, the first of five sets that the company would produce of cards affixed to the back of the boxes of the various snack cakes and other bakery products. The set is offered here in reasonably well-cut three-card panels, along with three variations (Hooton, Rader and Madlock), with most of the panels cut outside the dotted lines and only a half-dozen or so with a tight cut exactly on the line. The 7 ¼-by-3 ¼-inch panels do have some of the occasional staining that is all but unavoidable with an issue subjected to the rigors of proximity to baked goods. Breakdown of condition anomalies: No. 10-12 Hooton – Good, 13-15 – Very Good, 43-45 – Good (No. 45 is Poor), 94-96 – Good, 103 – VG, 112-114- Good (tight cut), 115-117 -VG (erratic cut), 121-123 – VG, 124-126 – Good, 127-129 – erratic cut and 130-132 Aaron – Good.
