Here are two important sets from almost four decades ago, basically in the same, as-issued condition as the moment they rolled off the presses, with the Donruss factory set in the original interior cellophane packages and the Puzzle for the 660-card issue, and the 1985 Leaf entry missing two cards out of the 264-card complete set: the Diamond Kings cards of Ryne Sandberg and Mike Marshall. The 1985 Donruss and Leaf issues were headlined by Rookie cards of eventual Hall of Famer Kirby Puckett and standouts Roger Clemens and Dwight Gooden, who would battle one another for more than decade in seeming pursuit of Cooperstown credentials, only to be forsaken for reasons that test the bounds of irony in their apparent similarity.
