Presented is an incredibly important turn-of-the-century baseball tome, the 160-page “The Book of Baseball that is simply an incredible archive of the earliest days of baseball history, featuring simply spectacular photographs and amazing pen-and-ink artwork. It is one of the most sought-after documents chronicling the sports early history, covering the origins of the American and National Leagues, the art of pitching, star plays and players, umpiring and other aspects of the National Pastime, along with a recap of the 1910 season. In all there are more than 220 illustrations, game-action photos, publicity shots and line drawings by the famed Charles Dana Gibson and other prominent artists. The book, by William Patten and J. Walter McSpadden, boasts front and back covers in Fair condition, with some hinge and binding cracking, and inside pages that are Ex-Mt or better. It is truly a phenomenal archive from more than 100 years ago in baseball history.
