Here’s a truly impressive historical artifact tracking the checkered history of an original American League franchise that moved slowly westward starting in 1955, winding up eventually in Oakland, Calif., where the club enjoyed its greatest postwar reign atop the league with World Series titles in 1972-74. This amazing accumulation of two dozen yearbooks from all three cities tells the story of much of the club’s postwar history to the dawn of the 1980s.
