Offered is an enormous group of vintage postcards from one of the most beloved franchises in Major League Baseball, the St. Louis Cardinals who boast an enthusiastic collector base that rivals the wider group of fans that stretches from the Midwest and beyond. The array found here includes groups from the club’s tough years in the 1950s when they struggled against the Dodgers, Giants and Braves despite having the great Stan Musial dominating at the plate to championship clubs in the 1960s and 1980s. The breakdown: 1953 Cardinals Postcards (43) – 3 ¼-by-5 ½ inches, generally Excellent to Ex-Mt, with almost ¼ of the array below to Fair or Poor, and some duplication – including three (3) Musials (two versions) – Very Good, Good and Poor; two (2) Schoendienst; 1963-64 (22 different), mostly Ex-Mt to Nr-Mt; 1968 Team Postcard – VG; and a 1980s group (71), basically Ex-Mt to Nr-Mt, with a few below. The array is almost evening divided between an early 1980s group and a second group later in the decade. The first group (38) includes Hernandez, Torre, McGee (2), Coleman, Van Slyke, Tudor, Herzog, Schoendienst, Ozzie Smith and Simmons; Group Two (33) is mostly Nr-Mt and includes Ozzie, Herzog, Simmons, McGee, Sutter, Van Slyke, Schoendienst and Hendrick.
