For non-sport collectors, this lot presents a great opportunity to pick up a wonderful array of striking non-sport issues from the 1920s and 1930s, cards depicting elegant paintings of Man’s Best Friend, Zoo Babies and Wild Animals, all in highly collectible condition. Three of the four are produced by Imperial and Players Tobacco, two of the most important non-sport issuers of the 20th century. The breakdown: 1) 1924 Imperial Tobacco Dogs Set (23) – 2 11/16-by-1 7/16 inches – mostly VG-Ex, with a couple of Ex-Mt cards; 2) 1929 John Players & Son Tobacco Dogs Set (50) – 2 5/8-by-1 7/16 inches – Excellent to Ex-Mt, with a few below; 3) 1938 John Players & Son Tobacco Zoo Babies Set (25) – 3 1/8-by-2 7/8 inches – Excellent to Ex-Mt, with a few Very Good; and 4) Wild Animals (45) – 2 ¾-by-2 ½ inches – extremely colorful cards with perforations and no manufacturer or dating information provided, Ex-Mt to Nr-Mt, with some below.
