This is a wonderful representation of an important non sport issue of the mid-1950’s, a British issue featuring the great film and television stars of the day, all elegantly portrayed on a 2 5/8-3 ¾-inch card stock with striking color photos on the front and biographical information on the card backs. Legendary figures like John Wayne, Doris Day, Sophia Loren, Gene Kelly and Roy Rogers are included in this grouping, which is just one card (No. 67 Gloria Grahame) short of a complete 72-card set. To say these blank-back are rare is massive understatement, with only 662 total cards graded by PSA (average of fewer than 10 per card) and not a single card having more than 50 graded examples, with John Wayne being the highest population report number at 46. The set ranks No. 2 in the PSA Registry with an average grade of 4.873.
