This is a neat old-fashioned auction loaded with cool stuff from postwar baseball, including the vaunted 1952 Wheaties cards, Bazooka Stamps, Johnston Cookies, Topps, Armour and Salada Coins, Topps Bucks and Stamps and even a near set of the popular 1959 Fleer Life of Ted Williams issue. It’s the kind of lot that begs for a good deal of careful examination, with a lineup as diverse as it is intriguing. With an array this extensive, chronological seems like the way to go to detail the goodies. Here’s the breakdown: 1952 Wheaties (54 different) – fairly typical scissoring for the issue, with a few of the corners clipped as youngster would occasionally do back then – array is broadly Very Good to Excellent, with some below, and includes (players showing two cards means Portrait and Action) – Alice Bauer (2), Marlene Bauer (2), Berg (2), Berra Portrait, Campanella (2), Davies (2), Davis (2), Day (2), Diehl (2), Fears (2), Frasier (2), Graham (2), Hogan Portrait, Kell (2), Kramer Portrait, Lemon (2), Lujack (2), Mangrum Portrait, Mikan (2), Musial (2), Patterson (2), Pollard (2), Rizzuto (2), Roe Action, Snead (2), Walker (2), Waterfield (2) and Williams Portrait; 1953 and 1954 Johnston Cookies Milwaukee Braves Group – 1953 Near Set (21/25) mostly Very Good to Excellent, Spahn (VG-Ex), with some below and missing Mathews, Burdette, Bickford and Grimm – 1954 group – Good to Fair (7) – with Spahn (VG) and Burdette; 1959 Bazooka Colavito (shortprint) – Very Good; 1959 Armour Coins (6) – generally Ex-Mt, with Aaron (Yellow), Banks (Blue – Poor), Ashburn (Yellow), Triandos (Green), Blasingame (Orange) and Fox (Orange); 1959 Fleer Life of Ted Williams Near Set (76/79) – primarily Excellent to Ex-Mt, with a few Near-Mint and a few below, including about a dozen Very Good – the three missing numbers are 71, 73 and 75 and about 18 cards are miscut on the backs (not affecting the front); 1961 Topps Baseball Stamp Album (5-by-8 inches – Very Good) – with (131) Stamps affixed inside including Mantle, Ford, Maris (m/c), Killebrew, Kaline, Yastrzemski, Musial (m/c), Mays, Roberts, Mathews, Frank Robinson and Banks (m/c); 1962 Topps Baseball Stamp Album (5-by-8 inches – VG-Ex) – with (130) Stamps affixed inside, including Mays, Koufax, Marichal, Minoso, Mazeroski, Hodges, Mathews, Torre, Frank Robinson, Banks, Santo, Ford, Berra, Maris, Killebrew, Kaline, Wynn and Brooks Robinson; 1962 Topps Baseball Bucks (57) – Ex-Mt to Near-Mint, with 18 Hall of Famers, including Mays (VG), Aaron, Mantle (VG – m/c), Clemente (VG), Koufax (VG), Musial (VG), Frank Robinson (m/c), Spahn, Kaline, Drysdale, Minoso (m/c), Mathews (m/c) Yastrzemski, Ashburn and Brooks Robinson – about two dozen are miscut; 1963 Salada Coins (8) – including six metal and two plastic with Wills, Groat and Wilhelm; 1964 Bazooka Baseball Stamps – with two (2) panels of 10 Stamps each and each missing one stamp – Ex-Mt, with one panel including Willie Mays and Frank Robinson; 1964 Topps Coins Plus a couple Salada and more than a dozen 1971 Coins (72) – mostly Excellent to Ex-Mt, with some below, including Aaron (VG), Mantle (VG), Mantle All-Star (Excellent), Mays (Ex), Mays All-Star (VG-Plus), Clemente All-Star (Ex-Plus), plus Yastrzemski, Yastrzemski All-Star, McCovey, Killebrew, Brooks Robinson, Gibson, Mazeroski, Aparicio and Torre; and a 1977 Sportscaster Aaron card – Near-Mint.
