Offered here is an outstanding example of arguably the most important baseball issue from the Bowman company, the 1953 issue that features spectacular color photos on the front unmolested by any text or even graphic elements. This is a near-complete run of card Nos. 1-70, missing only No. 33 Reese, No. 59 Mantle and No. 68 Reynolds. This important array is in an overall condition a bit better than this classic set is typically encountered in older accumulations, essentially Very Good to Excellent, with a nice consistent look and presentation; it comes out to roughly 52 percent Excellent and 40 percent quite evenly divided between Very Good and VG-Ex, with only five cards below. The breakdown: No. 1 Williams – Very Good, 9 Rizzuto – Excellent, 10 Ashburn – VG, 12 Erskine – Ex, 18 Fox – Ex, 21 Garagiola – Ex, 32 Musial – VG-Ex o/c, 36 Minoso – VG-Ex, 40 Doby – Good, 44 Mantle/Berra/Bauer – VG-Ex, 46 Campanella – VG-Ex, 51 Irvin – Ex, 55 Durocher – Ex, 57 Boudreau – VG, 61 Kell – Good, 62 Kluszewski – VG-Ex, 63 McDougald – VG, 65 Roberts – VG and 69 – Fair.
