This is an outstanding artifact from the New York Mets relief ace John Franco, a road grey knit jersey from 1998 in the middle of his 14-year Mets’ tenure that constituted fully 2/3 of his standout 21-year career. The shirt has the six-button front with royal-blue piping around the collar, button path and sleeve ends. The famed Mets disc patch appears on the left sleeve and is zig-zag affixed; the “textured twill” drop-shadow alpha and numeric identifiers are present, with NOB sewn directly to the jersey back. Franco’s autograph appears on the top front-left chest in black Sharpie. The AIS Size 46 labeling appears on the back tail with flap tag. Franco, currently in fifth place on the MLB All-Time Saves list, wore No. 31 from his arrival in Flushing Meadows in 1990 through midway in 1998 when he relinquished his number to Mike Piazza, switching to No. 45.
