Presented is a truly spectacular artifact from one of the most coveted and recognizable postwar MLB uniforms, the early Milwaukee Braves jerseys that linked the clubs’ promising present to its historic past in Boston. The shirt is nothing short of sensational, just immaculate overall and a wonderful exemplar from a great dynasty that almost was. The road flannel has the talon zipper front, with Ragland sleeves and elaborate black/red/black piping along the collar, button path and sleeve-end accents. The famous “Braves” in script and numerals are in red-on-black felt and are in beautiful condition; the original headdress patch is intact with straight-stitch affixing the resplendent six-color felt. Wilson Size 42 labeling appears at the tail, with “Paine ‘55” in red chain link on white (cream) felt. Paine was a journeyman hurler who pitched sporadically for the club during its heyday from 1954-57; in 15 appearances in 1955, he was 2-0, with five of those appearances on the road.
