Here’s the historic and groundbreaking 1956 Topps Football issue, the company’s first mainstream NFL issue and thus a natural starting point for serious football collectors. The issue features 120 cards in the larger-size 2 5/8-by-3 5/8-inch format that would be shelved the next year in favor of the now-standard 2 ½-by-3 ½-inch size. The offered near set is missing just three cards: No. 13, No. 49 and No. 60 Moore Rookie; there are eight extra cards included in the array (four of which are Hall of Famers), with the duplication noted in the breakdown that follows. It comes out to 58 percent Excellent and 36 percent Very Good to VG-Ex, with one card reaching above to Ex-Mt and a handful below, mostly to Good.
