Offered is a truly impressive group of 1957-59 Topps football cards headlined by nearly four dozen Hall of Famers and many of the key cards from these first three years of Topps producing standard-sized football cards. Also included in the array are more than three dozen cards from the company’s classic 1955 All American issue that featured many of the legendary collegiate figures from the era at a time when the college game rivaled its professional counterpart for the devotion of fans across the country. The final element of the lot is a sampling of two dozen early Bowman football cards. The section of 113 cards from 1957-59 is headlined by the likes of Johnny Unitas, Jim Brown, Bobby Layne and a boatload of other Hall of Famers, sometimes even with notable duplication which is detailed in the listing that follows. The breakdown: 1957 Topps (27) – generally Very Good to Excellent, with a few below, including No. 3 McCormack – Excellent, 5 Marchetti – Good, 8 (5), 20 Creekmur (4) – three VG and one Fair, 29 – Fair, 32 Layne – Ex-Mt-Plus, 44 (2) and 58 Ane (2) – VG and Poor; 1958 Topps (21) – Very Good to Excellent, with a few below, including No. 3 Schmidt (4) – VG-Ex and three VG, 75 Johnson – Ex, 93 Perry – VG (mk), 94 Rote (3) and 103 Ringo – VG-Ex; 1959 Topps (65) – Very Good to Ex-Mt, a few below, with 26 HOFers, including: No. 1 Unitas – Very Good, 6 Schmidt (2) – VG and Good, 10 Brown – Good, 14 (2), 17 Colts – Good (mk), 21 Ane (2) – VG, 29 Grier – Fair, 31 Eagles – VG (mk), 40 Layne (2) – Near-Mint and Good, 44 Johnson (2) – Good, 46 Packers – VG-Ex (mk), 61 San Francisco – VG (mk), 82 Hornung (2) – Ex-Mt, 103 Karras Rookie (7) – five Ex-Mt, VG and Fair, 113 (3), 118 Cardinals – Ex (mk), 130 Tittle (2) – Ex-Mt, 131 Lary (2) – Nr-Mt o/c and VG, 132 Parker – Ex-Mt, 139 (2), 140 Mitchell Rookie (2) – Ex-Mt-Plus, 143 (5) and 180 (2). The final element of the lot is a nice grouping of postwar football cards, dominated by more than three dozen cards from the classic 1955 Topps All American issue and the early Bowman array. The All American group (41) has just a bit of duplication and is pretty evenly divided between Ex-Mt, Excellent and Very Good to VG-Ex, with just a couple of cards below. The breakdown: No. 1 Hickman (2) – VG-Ex and Fair, 10 Dudley – Ex-Mt, 19 Smith – Ex-Mt, 20 Baugh – VG-Ex, 33 (2), 66 Kinard – VG and 89 Goldberg – VG. The early Bowman group: 1950 Bowman No. 93 Harder – Near-Mint; 1951 Bowman (3) – No. 18 – Good (mk), 46 Pihos – Poor (mk) and 52 – Very Good; 1952 Bowman Large No. 134 Ulrich Rookie – Excellent; 1952 Bowman Small (9) – No. 6 – Ex, 22 – Ex-Plus, 32 – Fair (mk), 44 – Poor (mk), 56 – Fair (mk), 1-8 – VG-Ex, 121 – Fair (mk), 136 – Good (mk) and 141 – VG-Ex; 1954 Bowman No. 7 – Ex; 1955 Bowman (8) – No. 21 – Good, 59 Ane – Good, 99 – VG (m/c), 105 – Ex-Mt, 106 – Ex, 107 (2) – Ex-Mt and Evidence of Trim and 137 Rote – VG-Ex.
