Presented is an extraordinary grouping of high-grade cards from the coveted 1966 Philadelphia Gum Football issue, the company’s penultimate set in its fabled four-year run producing cards in the mid-1960s, an array that is as imposing as it is gargantuan. The enormous group would provide a great launch on a high-grade complete set, with almost two dozen different Hall of Famers included, and a total of 54 in all with the duplication that is a feature of the raw contingent. A standout subgroup of 37 PSA-slabbed cards provides a nice glimpse into the wider condition range of the more than 350 raw examples, with a Mint 9 and eight PSA 8s headlining. The raw group, with considerable duplication often involving some of the key Hall of Famers and stars from the era, is largely Excellent to Near-Mint, with a few below mostly to VG-Ex and a number above to Near-Mint to Mint; a handful of condition anomalies below VG-Ex are not included in the final card count. Perhaps ¼ of the raw group have the kind of centering that might prompt thoughts of an upgrade, though not all of those would be severe enough to dictate a formal off-center qualifier.
