Presented is perhaps the most important non-sport issue of the Depression Era, the classic Goudey Indian Gum set is found here in a fairly typical condition range for the issue, essentially Fair to Good, and including some of the color variations that add to the mystique of his iconic offering. Printed in the then-standard Goudey dimensions of 2 3/8-by-2 7/8 inches that matched the legendary Goudey baseball-card sets from the period, the non-sport treasure featured remarkably vivid and colorful artwork depicting chiefs, warriors, soldiers, tribes, rituals and famous battles; the offered array features a good deal of duplication, often involving some of the important cards of the set. At nearly 300 cards, the lot provides a huge launch on a complete set in an issue technically complete at 216 cards, but the vast array of background color variations could make a master set virtually impossible regardless of grade.
