Presented is a truly stunning example of one of the cool peripheral baseball issues from the 1960s, the oversized 1960 Nu-Card Baseball Hi-Lites set that features a simulated newspaper front page to showcase the great players and historic moments in baseball history. At 3 ¼-by- 5 3/8-inches the cards are black-and-white with red spot color highlights; the set was the predecessor to a similar issue by the same company in 1961 but with the cards in the traditional 2 ½-by-3 ½-inch format. The offered set is in markedly better condition than this important issue is typically encountered in mature collections, with uncommonly clean and bright black-and-white contrast and crisp, consistent backs; overall it comes out to 21 percent Near-Mint, 56 percent Ex-Mt, 18 percent Excellent and only four percent VG-Ex, with a single card reaching Good.
