Presented is a complete set of the 1977 Hostess Baseball issue in three-card panels, the 3 ¼-by- 7 ¼-inch sections that can be among the decade’s trickiest peripheral sets because of the inherent indignities of being offered as the bottom panel of boxes of various snack cakes. The offered array belies much of that concern, boasting a largely Ex-Mt to Near-Mint presentation in a grouping that is pretty uniformly cut well outside those pesky dotted lines that challenged the scissoring skills of the youth of America. Even the handful of panels with an erratic or rugged cut are still far enough outside the line to minimize concerns. The panels themselves are uncommonly clean, with largely stain-free backs yielding a very uniform and consistent presentation. Here’s the breakdown of keys and some of the condition anomalies: Nos. 1-3 Pamer, Morgan and Jackson – Ex-Mt, cut precisely on the dotted line; Nos. 4-6 Yastrzemski, Munson and Bench – Near-Mint, Nos. 7-9 Seaver, Rose and Carew – Near-Mint; Nos. 79-81 Hunter, Candelaria and Ryan – VG-Ex; Nos. 85-87 – Very Good; Nos. 91-93 – Very Good; Nos. 97-99 - Very Good; Nos. 103-105 – VG-Ex; Nos. 115-117 – Very Good; Nos. 118-120 – VG-Ex; Nos. 124-126 – Very Good; and Nos. 148-160 – Very Good.
