Here’s a sparkling Louisville Slugger black bat that honors one of the storybook ball clubs in postwar MLB history, the 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates who stunned the nation with a seven-game World Series victory over the heavily favored New York Yankees. The 34 ½-inch bat is in Ex-Mt condition, with spectacular gold imprinting of the famed Louisville Slugger center label and notation “Pittsburgh Pirates, 1960 World Champions” adjacent; a total of 33 facsimile cursive signatures alternates with block letters names of that legendary club, headlined by the likes of Manager Danny Murtaugh, “Momen” Clemente (cursive), Law, Friend, Burgess, Groat, Mazeroski, Hoak, Skinner, Labine, Virdon, Haddix, et al. It’s a great artifact from one of the beloved ball clubs in Pittsburgh’s storied tenure in the National League.
