Here are 10 striking early postcards touching on a number of important MLB historical moments, including the famed “House of David” players who barnstormed throughout the country for decades with admirable fortitude and flowing locks, and others depicting notable MLB clubs and even a pristine postcard from the famed Joe DiMaggio Restaurant at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. All six postcards are black and white and have official Eden Springs, House of David, Benton Harbor, Mich. USA stamping on the reverse – most have some minor extraneous writing, including some pencil listings of player names and one dated to 1925; a Black-and-White Team Picture Postcard depicting the 1906 World Champions Chicago White Sox, Very Good condition, with pen notations about scores of the World Series battle against the crosstown rival Cubs and postmarked the same day as Game Three of that fabled World Series; Color postcard from famed Cincinnati Reds “Red Belt” Series, with 1907 postmark and One-Cent stamp, plus elegant fountain-pen writing on the reverse (Very Good); 1915 Postmarked Color Postcard of Fenway Park, Very Good, again with elegant fountain-pen writing on the reverse and One-Cent stamp; and the final piece is a Near-Mint or better deckle-edged Color Postcard from Joe DiMaggio’s Restaurant at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco, with the Hall of Famer pictured on the front flanked by inset photos of his two major-league brothers Dom and Vince – front and back of the Postcard are clean as a whistle and without notation in any manner.
