Presented is an intriguing vintage Topps hockey group, notably because of its size and extensive roster of Hall of Famers, along with a remarkable almost as-issued overall condition, which is broadly Near-Mint to Near-Mint to Mint. The lineup includes many of the biggest names in the sport through that period, including Bobby Orr, Stan Mikita, Phil Esposito, Bobby Clarke, Bernie Parent and dozens of others, plus more recent towering figures like Wayne Gretzky, Steve Yzerman, Mike Bossy, Bryan Trottier, Mark Messier and Mario Lemieux, to name a few. It’s an enormous accumulation and an old-time auction lot that begs for a good deal of close examination. The breakdown: 1968 Topps (10); 1972 Topps (38) – including Orr and League Leaders Assists (Orr), plus Mikita and Phil Esposito; 1973 Topps (11); 1973 NHLPA Photo Stamp Sheet of (14) from Series 1 – Ex-Mt; 1974 Topps (184) – with 30 HOFers, including Orr, Clarke, Esposito, Parent, Dionne and Potvin; 1975 Topps (166) – including Clarke, Potvin (2), Sittler, Mikita and Dryden; 1976 Topps (88) – Trottier Rookie, Lafleur, Potvin, Park, Clarke and Dionne; 1976-77 Topps Glossies (11) including Orr, Clarke, Dionne, Esposito and Trottier; 1977 Topps (5) – including Parent, Potvin, Leach, Sittler and Esposito; 1980 (260) – Gretzky and two dozen Hall of Famers in a near-complete set; 1980 Topps Posters 5-by-7 inches near set (15/16), missing No. 12 – mostly Ex-Mt; 1982 Topps (185) – including 15 Hall of Famers; 1984 (70) – including Gretzky, Yzerman Rookie, Coffey, Bossy and Trottier; and 1987 Topps (185) – including Gretzky, Yzerman, Coffey, Bossy, Messier, Dionne and Lemieux
